Lake Roosevelt Walleye Club President’s Page
Oct 12,2021
The monthly meeting of the Lake Roosevelt Walleye Club was held at the Kettle Falls Gun Club. We meet every 2ndTuesday of the month at 7:00pm and would appreciate having as many members come as possible. My hot topic for this month’s meeting was changing the meeting time to 7:00pm. This will give members who are on a tight schedule the opportunity to make it to the meeting.
I want to thank everyone who was involved in this year’s Gun, Gun Safe, and Fishing Pole Raffle. We sold tickets at several events this year including Kettle Falls, Colville, Republic, and several other fairs and events in the area, not to mention local friends and family who bought tickets. I want to thank TJ’s Bar and Grill for allowing us to do the drawing in their facility. We sold over 1000 tickets and gave away lots of prizes. Thanks again.
I want to thank Chip Carr for stepping up and helping me with the new Governors Cup/ Add Book Sponsorship Program. We are going to start contacting potential sponsors with the intent of adding more sponsors to the Governor’s Cup and creating special award prizes to the Governor’s Cup with the intention of bringing in more Tournament Fishermen and creating larger prize payouts. We need fishermen to participate in order to have larger purses. Anyone who would like to help us with the “Governor’s Cup Walleye Tournament Sponsorship Program” please contact me at nraeho@gmail.com.
November’s meeting will be a special one. We have several leadership positions that are vacant and need to be filled for the 2022 year. The position of President, the position of Secretary, the position of Assistant Tournament Director and a Board Member Position. We will discuss these positions and then nominate potential members who will be on the ballot and voted on at the December Meeting/ Christmas Party. Come to the meeting to defend yourself.
We are already planning the 2023 Governor’s Cup. We are going to be set up at Happy Dell Park in Kettle Falls, and I would like some input as to what we need there; Gun Raffle Booth, Penny Raffle Booth, Tournament Scoring, maybe Hot Dog and Soda Sales, please be thinking of things we can do and what you would like to help with.
We will be working with the Leadership Team from The Columbia River Walleye Association and Angler of the year on making the 2022 Governor’s Cup even bigger and better.
If you have a special person who would like to come to a meeting and share their expertise in fishing, boating or the Kettle Falls area, let me know and I will put them in the agenda(nraeho@gmail.com).
Thanks for your support, be safe and catch lots of fish.
Marvin O’Hearn Acting President/Tournament Director.
The Fred and Ethel Tournament went off without a hitch. There were 10 teams that braved the windy/ rainy weather. I would like to Ursula Andrews, Dennis Spalding, Doug Eastwood and everyone else who made this year’s tournament a success. We had barbequed hamburgers and hotdogs for our club award dinner, prepared by “Chef Eastwood”. Everyone who entered the tournament went home with a cash prize. The Fred and Ethel drawing was won by Clyde Reneman. We ended the Tuesday Night League and the results of that tournament will made available at a later date once the results are in.
